Welcome Back to the Odyssey Ning!
As you may know, due to new policies at Ning, we have been unable to access this page for months. All messages to the Ning Network went unanswered. We went to great lengths to try to salvage the material on this site but the archive is vast and we couldn't save it all - so a very special thanks to
Sugar Seville - the creator of this network - for hearing our pleas and renewing this site.
This Odyssey Ning Network is an amazing archive of the history of the community and the work of Odyssey artists. It also provides a user friendly and interactive site that allows all members to participate, converse and share their work. However, the events of past months indicate that the future of Ning is uncertain and therefore it may be a prudent plan to seek alternatives.
Months ago we began creating other sites to archive the work of Odyssey artists and now have an
Odyssey Blog, a
YouTube Page and a
Facebook Page already running. None of these interfaces provide the interactivity of the Ning, so we are continuing to investigate alternatives and are open to suggestions from all members.
Please become a member of the
Facebook Group, subscribe to the blog and
YouTube Channel and IM or email lizsolo Mathilde or Fau Ferdinand to become a contributor to the
Odyssey Blog and to send ideas for alternatives.
The Ning will stand as an archive and a place to communicate until we find an alternative but all announcements about events on Odyssey and future archiving will take place within Second Life and on the
Odyssey Blog. URL:

Feel free to contact us anytime - in-world or online.
Love,
Liz and Fau

I'm Garrett Lynch (IRL)
by Garrett Lynch
The performance continues ideas of the artist, identity and being from the works "Between Saying and Doing" and "On Exactitude of Similitude". The artist, wearing his now usual sandwich board, generates two hundred visually identical sandwich boards for participants to wear while all but taking control of the chat window to focus discussion on topics including identity, location, representation, original and copy, ‘reality’ and fiction. Piano Drop
Man Michinaga/Patrick Lichty
“The Hansen-Ono Piano Method”, is an extension of Al Hansen’s historic FLUXUS work “Yoko Ono Piano Drop”, in which Al Hansen dropped a piano off of a building as an action for his colleague, Yoko Ono. In this action, Lichty's avatar (Man Michinaga) sits at the piano, while rains of pianos, anvils, sheep, and other whatnot rain down with cacaphanous results.

Flesh Meat - With Coastal Avatars
A few lines about the piece from Alan Sondheim:
"I'm still looking at being-avatar in terms of sexuality, flesh, language; I do this through the lone avatar who goes nowhere, gets nowhere. There's no plot, nothing to reveal, nothing you don't already know, getting up in the morning, looking in the period. What's staring back at you has a name."

44 Hours Of Cornucopia Momentum
Eifachfilm Vacirca will be locked up - intervene!
The Swiss artist
d-oo-b (Bendix Freutel) creates in the rural environment of Reigoldswil a time of art moments. Hikers are confronted on their way to the cable train with the high tech world of Second Life displayed large in a window. This confrontation should be an inspiration for the people to get involved in the show. Bendix Freutel (in Second Life Eifachfilm Vacirca) is organizing live and online art performances and will present them simultaneously on Odyssey and via the portal pictured above.

Odyssey Revamping
Odyssey is going through a redesign. Chi5 Shenzhou has been creating new structures and features for the landscape including an amphi-theatre, loft workspaces, and a new Ah Lounge. We have erected a memorial to the late Wirxli Flimflam at the the top of Sugar Mountain and streamlined the mountain top for meetings and demonstrations. In the meantime there are scores of artists working on sky platforms, developing new work and shooting machinima.

Gallery exhibits by
Man Michinaga, Selavy Oh, lizsolo Mathilde, Dekka Raymaker continue on Odyssey with new work coming in June. Stay tuned for special opening events for new installations and gallery shows - including an installation by
Rose Borchovski, coming next.

About Remap Berlin
Remap Berlin introduces a series of b&w photographs shot in the virtual world Twinity, a mirror world that reproduces a realistic 3D replica of Berlin. The photos shot in Twinity are then geo localized in google maps, re-mapped from the virtual to the real, positioned in the same point where they were shot into the mirror world.
This operation discovers different levels of reality. The photos, uploaded in the photo sharing community of Panoramio, are mixed and confused with other photographs shot in the same point by real life users. Many of these photos were selected by Google Earth and became a little geographical virus.
They are cityscapes met by Marco Manray roaming around the still empty streets of Berlin in a beta version. It is the new step of his journey in the metaverse, after Second Life and the chinese virtual world HIPIHI.
The exploration touchs the city edges, where streets end on the boundary line between land and sky, as in Medieval Imaginary. They are temporary borders of an expanding universe. See also:
